About Balcas Energy:

Balcas Energy is part of Balcas, a natural leader in the world of timber.
We opened our first sawmill in 1962 and became one of the largest in the UK and Ireland. Our success came from our knowledge of and respect for timber. In our quest to make the most of every precious tree, Balcas Energy was born.

A co-product of our operations is pure sawdust. In 2004, using natural tree resin as a binder, our engineers pioneered the production of high quality wood pellets.

Originally known as brites, our high grade EN plus pellets have since grown to become 50% of our business. In 2016, Balcas purchased the UK’s largest wood pellet distribution company Forever Fuels and in 2019, with growth in mind, rebranded as Balcas Energy. Balcas Energy is proud to employ some of the most experienced biomass experts in the UK and Ireland and thanks to our advanced Combined Heat and Power plant, both of our production sites are self-sufficient.

Balcas Energy’s Invergordon and Enniskillen sites have production capacities of 120,000 tonnes and 60,000 tonnes of wood pellets respectively. Our operations are so efficient that we put surplus electricity back into the grid throughout the year.

Balcas employs over 380 people and an additional 300 are engaged in forest harvesting and haulage on our behalf.

“Driver was excellent explaining what was going on explaining the reasons for everything. A credit to the company. Invoicing and delivery details across the web was also very impressive. Quality of product excellent. The reason for a less than excellent rating was the disconnect between initial contact and the schedule coming out for confirmation ; more than a week & after the initially indicated delivery date ! Very poor but more than offset by everything else.”

“Driver has always been pleasant and always on time. Cannot fault. This delivery was better as we did not have to wait for nearly 3 weeks, delivery was within the week. Excellant service all round.”

“Great service from Phil. Came between 1pm and 3pm which is perfect for the practice as we have very few visitors during that time and the hydrotherapy room is not used. Smooth delivery and away before the afternoon sessions started.”

“We changed our supplier to Forever Fuels when we found we were constantly being let down with scheduled deliveries of wood pellets by the original supplier. Forever Fuels were so helpful in understanding our needs and the restrictions we have in place for the movement of vehicles as a busy school site - but they were adaptable, understanding and always incredibly professional. The quality of communication and sharing of information is particularly valuable to us as a school. I believe better performance by our biomass boiler since the move to Forever Fuels may be attributed to their higher grade product and delivery system, also. Our regular delivery driver is excellent - he calls ahead to announce his arrival, is polite, patient and personable and spent a fair amount of time on his first visit to the school getting to know the layout of the site and the features of the heating system we use here. I would recommend Forever Fuels unreservedly.”

“A bit too much paperwork but after that it was excellent having a call the day before with the delivery time.Also having a small Lorry was brilliant. The driver was kind and most efficient Thank-you Giles Smith”

“Ordering very easy by telephone and spoke to very nice helpful person. Conformation and paperwork by email. Prompt delivery. Delivery driver was also very nice and helpful. You couldn't wish to deal with a more efficient company.”

“Mark was polite, sociable and very helpful. Although we could have got a little more into the store, probably less than 0.5 of a tonne, I was running short of time, so decided to stop. Mark did provide useful information about the cleaning/dust extraction service which I would like to explore later in the summer. Thanks”

“Hi Please can you make it a standing instruction for the driver to put the auger back on after he finishes. It was left off and we ran our of fuel twice before my wife called me to diagnose the problem. Also - on this occasion - the drive was left covered in very fine dusl that is proving tough to remove - hopefully it will go one it rains. Other than that very prompt and efficient. Thank you.”

“Delivery 'on the button' - he said he would arrive in half and hour and I think it was 28 mins! Very helpful and informative, just got on with it, tidied up and was away. Would be useful to know more details the day before but appreciate this may pose problems. Thanks.”
